In response to community needs and government policy directions, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University's Research Centre for Gerontology and Family Studies (hereinafter the Centre), funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, organises the 3.5-year Jockey Club Age-friendly Co-creation Project. Leveraging its academic expertise, the Centre aims to develop feasible solutions grounded in theories and research findings. It collaborates with businesses, government departments, social enterprises, and other stakeholders to address the challenges and opportunities of an ageing population, fostering sustainable community development.

Through four strategies of research, training, recognition, and promotion, the Project encourages stakeholders across various sectors to incorporate more age-friendly elements into their services and operations, working towards building an age-friendly Hong Kong - an inclusive city for people of all ages.

The Jockey Club Age-friendly City Partnership Scheme (“the Scheme”) has been launched since 2018 to encourage different community sectors in building an age-friendly city that can cater for the needs of all ages. The Scheme is the first of its kind in engaging different stakeholders, including business community, government departments and social enterprises, to adopt age-friendly practices in Hong Kong.
